We came across Craig Hughes via a Bandcamp recommendation from the excellent Jim Head who we posted about recently.
Hughes is a guitarist first and foremost mixing raw blues, acoustic slide and electric to excellent effect. His music is gritty, raw and affecting with echoes of the Texas dust, fuzzed up psych and country and the low moan of the deep south.
This excellent track, On A Rooftop With A Rifle And A Scope comes from his debut album, Pissed Off, Bitter And Willing To Share, which was released in November 2009 and is still available via his Bandcamp page on a “pay what you want” deal. The titles kind of give you the gist of what to expect – you won’t be disappointed.
