Yesterday we posted a track from the brilliant Ray Wylie Hubbard’s Daytrotter session and he is involved in today’s post too, being co-producer on this recently released album of gritty, intoxicating one-man-blues by Lincoln Durham, The Shovel [vs] the Howling Bones.
Equipped with old, makeshift 1950s amps, resonators, fiddles, harmonicas, tin can microphones, slides, stomp boards and you name it, he gives birth to a sound that transcends genres. His dark, poetic and raw writing style is reminiscent of his mentor, the aforementioned Mr Hubbard, telling tales that Poe would have been proud of.
