New Releases Round Up

Here are some ‘hot outta the in-box‘ new releases that are well worth exploring.

First up is a new track from the Forty Nineteens forthcoming debut No Expiration Date. Truckers Song is another slice of garage inflected pop-punk that sounds as though it were forged in the underground scene of late 80s Los Angeles.

We have featured both Ty Segall and White Fence on more than one occasion on MM and so it is a treat to find them collaborating on new album Hair. This is the rather promising taster, I Am Not A Game.

The Fresh & Onlys have also been MM regulars and Tim Cohen’s new side project is Magic Trick. The forthcoming album is called Ruler of the Night and if this track, Torture is anything to go by, we are (in directly inverse proportions to the song’s title and pained despairing delivery) in for a real treat.

Back after a four year hiatus and still delivering trademark bittersweet pop jangle is Gentleman Jesse. This is Take It Easy On Me from scheduled new album Leaving Atlanta.

We’ve also featured folksinger Leland Sundries before when we were rather taken with his EP The Apothecary. He is back with a new EP titled The Foundry and this slow-paced cut is called Monitor Arms.

The Home of Easy Credit is the provocative eponymous debut recording from husband and wife team Louise Dam Eckardt Jensen and Tom Blancarte. It uses electronics to blend vocals, saxophone and flute with furious bass playing to create sonic soundscapes that are as bleak as they are screwed up!

Finally, Sweden’s Theo Berndt is new to us, but new single Supersized is a bit of a distorted indie-pop monster with rolling bass lines and joyfully catchy guitar lines that can’t quite mask the song’s undertone of sadness.
