Round Up Time Again

Round Up Time Again.

What with being out at No Direction Home and away with the day job, a whole host of songs have come and gone without us posting them, so we’re remedying that oversight now with this round up of the best from our in-box and around the web.

We have the anthemic Mrs Magician who released their debut album Strange Heaven a couple of months ago. Download There Is No God and listen to the rather provocatively titled I’m Gonna Hangout With The Lesbians Next Door & Drop Acid.

Two Gallants will release their fourth LP The Bloom and the Blight in September, their first since 2007’s self-titled release and comes after a three-year hiatus. The first single Broken Eyes is a lovely slice of indie-folk.

Blonds will release their debut full-length The Bad Ones on August 7th, Run is a thrillingly rousing and compelling first taste.

Seattle’s Seapony have released What You Wanted, the first taste of their forthcoming album Falling, due in September. It is appropriately autumnal offering of their subtly crafted dream-pop.

K-Holes on the other hand are an altogether sleazier proposition with their joyful and raucous gutterball punk – all jagged guitars and tribal beats. Here are a couple of tracks from latest album Dismania.

And keeping up the visceral punk theme are Slug Guts and Ceremony. The former release their third album Playin’ In Time With The Deadbeat and Adult Living is an howling unhinged taster, while the latter have delivered up a rather tasty 60 second cover of the Ramones, which is never a bad thing.

Download Ceremony – I Don’t Wanna Be Learned / I Don’t Wanna Be Tamed mp3 (Ramones Cover)

Matthew E. White’s debut album Big Inner is out in August. One Of These Days is a modest, low-key soul-filled cut from the record with a gently tropical feel that makes for a most beguiling combination.

Earlier this week we premiered the excellent new track from Edmund II, this is Riptide an earlier taste from his album Floating Monk.

Laetitia Sadler of Stereolab is releasing another taste of her debut album Silencio, the lengthily titled There Is A Price To Be Paid For Freedom (And It Isn’t Security) is slow, woozy and seductive.

And to finish off we have something a little different from Mike Tyler. He is a celebrated non-academic, post-beat poet and musician and his new single Stuttering Song II is the first to be released in the UK and is taken from his forthcoming sophomore album Erection (out August 20th). Repetitive catchy chords provide the backdrop for his poetically devised (naturally) and hilariously undemanding lyrics.
